Solving your rat problem

Getting rid of rats is no easy task. Once they have taken up residency and start to multiply the problem can easily get out of hand. Rats will seek areas that are warm and dry where they will nest to expand their family. Rats need to drink water every day and will consume around 30g of food per day. This makes a domestic property an ideal place to setup home. They will usually find an area away from regular activity which is why it can be a challenge to find and resolve the problem.

  • The first thing we will do on arrival at your property is to gain as much information from yourself about the activity at the property, this may give us a starting point according to the rats activity. We will then carry out a full inspection of the property both internally and externally to check for activity & potential entry points. This will also include the lifting of man hole covers on the property and checking for rat activity around the pipes and benching . It is quite common for rats to exit faulty drains and find a route into into a property via a cavity wall or fault in the building.
  • Most rodent treatments we undertake will be carried out over a minimum of 3 visits, this can vary according to the extent of the rat infestation. From experience this is generally the minimum amount of visits required to monitor & control a rat infestation. When we take on a rodent treatment we ensure no stone is unturned to resolve the rat problem at your property. We do not just put rodenticide baits down and clear the current infestation, we want to make sure that not only have the rats been removed but also to ensure the rats will never return to your property.
  • Once we have established the areas of activity and entry point to the property the treatment process can begin. Each rodent job will be different according to the property and the environment which will dictate which control method will be utilized. On the first visit we prefer to place traps instead of poison where possible, this method is chosen to try and avoid rodents dying in areas of the property where we cannot gain access and remove the carcass. This method is also kinder to the wider environment.
  • Rats in Drains - Drain defects are common place and can provide rats easy access to a property. Rats often use drains to travel unseen as they search for warmth, nesting materials and food in homes and buildings. We can carry out our own CCTV drain inspection to investigate your drains for rat activity and faults in the drains that rats could be using to exit the drain into the property. To prevent rats entering your property from the drain system we can supply and fit a stainless steel rat flap which is inserted into the drain to prevent the movement of rats towards a property while allowing the drain to function as normal.
  • We will stay with you for as long as it takes to resolve your rat problem giving you complete peace of mind. We will stay in contact with you during the whole treatment process and will adjust our visits according to the activity of the rats and your schedule.
